Numax Steels is one of the pioneers and stockiest of 309H Stainless Steel Pipes & Tubes, which does not perform well in more highly reducing environments such as those containing chlorides and sulphuric acid. The austenitic structure of 309H Stainless Steel Tubes also gives this grade excellent toughness, even down to cryogenic temperatures.

Stainless Steel 309H Pipes from Numax Steels can be easily welded and processed by standard shop fabrication practices. Stainless Steel 309H Tubes is the most common form, largely due to its excellent corrosion resistance and value. SS 309H Pipes from Numax Steels performs well in fresh water service with low levels of chlorides.

At higher chloride levels, SS 309H Tubes from Numax Steels is susceptible to crevice corrosion and pitting. Working temperatures in Grade 309H Pipes of 1652 Degree F – 2102 Degree F (750 Degree – 1150° Degree C) are recommended for the most hot working processes. The slightly higher price point of Grade 309H Tubes is well worth it in areas with high chloride exposure, especially the coast and heavily salted roadways.

The best machining results in Alloy 309H Pipes are achieved with heavier feeds, slower speeds, outstanding lubrication, powerful rigid machinery and sharp tooling. The durability makes Alloy 309H Tubes easy to sanitize, and therefore perfect for kitchen applications and food applications. The metallurgical characteristics of AISI 309H Pipes are established primarily by the nickel content. AISI 309H Tubes from Numax Steels also extends resistance to corrosion caused by reducing chemicals.
